Entertainment pundit, MC Yaa Yeboah, has expressed disappointment in some Ghanaian musicians who have shown disinterest in the 2025 Telecel Ghana Music Awards.
In a discussion on Peace FM, shared on X on April 8, 2025, MC Yaa Yeboah emphasised that no Ghanaian artiste is bigger than the awards scheme, which has been a staple in the industry for over 25 years.
She cautioned musicians who frequently make derogatory comments about the TGMAs to refrain from doing so.
“We’ve heard a lot of artistes saying they are bigger than the awards. Recently, Kwaku Smoke shared something similar on Twitter about how he doesn’t follow the awards. I want every other artiste to understand that you are not bigger than the Ghana Music Awards,” she stated.
Yaa Yeboah also urged musicians to actively engage with the award scheme in order to be appreciated for their hard work.
“I start to laugh when I see people attacking Stonebwoy because he tries to be involved in discussions surrounding these awards. Which person wouldn’t want to be appreciated for their hard work?” she quizzed.
“The fact that you’ve put in the work means you deserve to be awarded. Artistes should understand that the awards are important. They should involve themselves in the scheme so they can also be appreciated,” she added.
Over the years, several Ghanaian musicians, including Shatta Wale, Kwaw Kese, among others, have publicly downplayed the importance of the Ghana Music Awards.
