Popular Ghanaian media personality, Nana Aba Anamoah, has defended Kwesi Arthur following his posts alleging harassment by his former record label, Ground Up.

In a post shared on X on January 22, 2026, Nana Aba accused the label of attempting to bully and sabotage the musician, describing such an act as “parasitic.”

“If you have to bully, manipulate and sabotage someone to stay relevant, you’re not a manager. You’re a parasite. Grown men moving like landlords of someone’s life, image and sweat. Embarrassing,” she said.

She called for Kwesi Arthur’s release, urging the label to treat him with the dignity and respect he deserves.

“Release him. Release his work. Stop the nonsense. Treat him with dignity and respect,” she said.

EXPLAINER: At what point do creative artistes lose rights to their work?

    Background

Kwesi Arthur has claimed that Ground Up is demanding $150,000 from him for using his own images in his current project and that the label claims ownership of all his work from 2016 to date, including his image and music.

He added that he hasn’t earned any income from music created during his time with the label and has rather received threats and manipulation from Glen Boateng.

The rapper further warned that if anything happens to him or if his independent project gets taken down, Glen Boateng and Ground Up should be held responsible.

Imagine trying to own a human being and then using threats to silence them.
