The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, has heaped praises on President John Dramani Mahama, describing his leadership as transformative and predicting a greater future role for him on the African continent.

Speaking during an installation ceremony of President Mahama on Monday, December 15, 2025, the revered traditional ruler said President Mahama’s return to office had brought a remarkable turnaround in Ghana’s economy.

President Mahama conferred with prestigious chieftaincy title in Nigeria

Enitan Ogunwusi attributed this to the president’s ingenuity and leadership style.

“You did magic that has never been done before. Immediately you ascended the throne a second time, the entire Ghanaian economy turned around completely. Your ingenuity ways, we’re very proud of you,” the Ooni stated.

He further likened President Mahama’s leadership to a “Midas touch,” saying his influence had not only reshaped Ghana but was beginning to resonate across the Black race globally.

“You have a Midas touch and a golden torch, and that is why you are Aare Atayeto. You have rearranged Ghana, you have reformed it, and by extension, it has started spreading across the entire Black race,” he said.

The Ooni of Ife also expressed strong confidence in President Mahama’s future political prospects, suggesting that his leadership journey was far from over.

“So many things are in the offering for you. You are still young. I am very positive you will be the next President and Chairman of the African Union. We all know that,” he added.

President Mahama was installed as the Aare Atayeto Oodua of the Source by the Ooni of Ife in Nigeria during a ceremony, while he was lauded for his commitment to multilateralism.
