During the final burial rites of the late Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom II, a young traditional priestess bearing the name Nana Akua Tia captured public attention with her striking appearance and demeanor.

The 23-year-old woman was believed to be the vessel of a 100-year-old deity known as Abrewa Akua Tia, originating from Atwima Twedie.

Her appearance before Otumfuo Osei Tutu II drew massive interest, as she exhibited mannerisms far beyond her age, walking with a stick, moving like an elderly woman, and performing rituals that reflected the spirit of an ancient being.

Although young in age, her portrayal of the deity’s spirit intrigued many, prompting curiosity across social media.

Following the aftermath of this, more details have emerged about the priestess and her spiritual journey.

In a recent interview shared on social media on September 23, 2025, the young priestess, with real name identified as Nana Afia Druwaa, revealed that her possession by the Akua Tia spirit began at a very young age.

According to her, she began manifesting the spirit and assumed the role in her third year of senior high school.

“Akua Tia is an ancient deity who existed during the time of our forefathers. I watched the viral video, and some people think I am Akua Tia, but that is the name of the god I serve. My birth name is Nana Afia Sika, but my stool name is Nana Afia Druwaa. I was four years old when I became possessed by the deity.

“The deity began working through me during my time in senior high school. When it first happened, I was taken to meet Otumfuo Osei Tutu II. Because he recognized the deity I carried, he performed a ritual by slaughtering a sheep so I could officially begin my duties as a priestess. He was pleased that the ancient Akua Tia had returned after many years,” she said.

Nana Afia Druwaa also refuted claims circulating on social media that she was merely performing in the viral video.

According to her, Otumfuo would not have allowed her to approach or greet him if she had been acting.

“No, that wasn’t acting. Otumfuo knows how Akua Tia walks, and no one is spiritual than Otumfuo. Assuming I was acting, he would have sacked me.

“If you see Akua Tia spiritually, she is a young, beautiful lady. But that is how she walks physically… The deity is from Twedi3, and all the other gods here came to meet her. She is the oldest deity here,” she added.
