Young graduates must be equipped with strong ethical and work values to enable them to build sustainable careers and contribute meaningfully to the growth of businesses and the country, the Senior Pastor of the Tema Christian Centre of the Assemblies of God Church, Reverend Eric Taric Bhakta, has said.
He said the growing desire among some young people to make money quickly without sufficient regard for discipline, integrity and hard work, posed a major challenge to the development of productive and responsible workplaces.
Rev. Bhakta made the call at the inauguration of the new office complex of Ferfed Business Consult Limited at Tema Community 12 on Friday.
He underscored the need for organisations to make ethical training an integral part of developing young professionals, particularly interns and newly recruited graduates.
“Business ethics is a major challenge. For many young graduates, work ethics remain a concern. There is sometimes an overwhelming desire to make money quickly,” he stated.
Rev. Bhakta, therefore, urged business owners and managers to deliberately expose young employees to ethical training, mentorship and professional development to prepare them for responsible leadership.
According to him, such training would help young professionals understand that sustainable success was built on patience, discipline and consistent hard work rather than the pursuit of immediate financial rewards.
He also encouraged the management of Ferfed Business Consult to continue expanding its capacity and creating opportunities for young people, saying everyone associated with the business should benefit from its growth.
Furthermore, Rev. Bhakta expressed confidence that the organisation would grow beyond its current operations and expand to other regions of Ghana and eventually across the country’s borders.
“Do not despise the days of small beginnings. When you are small today, do not despise it, because that smallness contains the potential for growth,” he mentioned.
He noted that businesses must not only focus on providing employment but should also serve as training grounds where young people could acquire the right attitudes, management skills and organisational values.
“It is like a tree. It offers comfort and shade to those who seek it. Beyond that, it provides a place of refuge and opportunity for young people,” he said.
Rev. Bhakta observed that many young people passed through organisations as interns and employees before moving on to other institutions.
He said it was, therefore important for them to leave with valuable skills, positive attitudes and strong work ethics.
The Chief Executive Officer of Ferfed Business Consult Ltd, Mr Rexford Jones Baffour, attributed the company’s 11-year growth and success to professionalism, integrity and the trust of its clients and business partners.
He said the opening of the new office facility marked an important milestone in the company’s journey and demonstrated its determination to expand its capacity and improve the quality of services provided to businesses and individuals.
Mr Baffour said Ferfed Business Consult had, over the past 11 years, supported clients with accounting, taxation, business advisory and human resource management services.
He attributed the company’s progress to the dedication, teamwork and professionalism of its management and staff.
Mr Baffour expressed appreciation to clients, business partners, associates, friends and family for their confidence and support, saying their contributions had enabled the company to grow and continually improve its services.
