A young girl is in critical condition after she was hit by a car in Sydney’s north today.
Emergency services were called to Somerville Road, Hornsby Heights, about 10.40am on Sunday following reports a pedestrian had been hit by a car.
Officers attached to Ku-Ring-Gai Police Area Command arrived to find an 8-year-old girl unconscious on the road after being hit by a Holden SUV.
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the girl at the scene.
She was then driven to the Children’s Hospital at Westmead in a critical condition.
The driver of the SUV was uninjured and taken to Hornsby Hospital for mandatory testing.
Police have established a crime scene and are investigating the incident.
Inquiries remain ongoing.
Traffic has been slowed on the main road.
Police first closed the whole road to cars, before beginning to let traffic pass again after midday.
The road has since been reopened.
