A young Aussie tourist has recalled the horrifying moment she believes a couple was trying to ‘set her up’ after they offered her drugs in Thailand.

Mia Pacor, 18, and her family had been holidaying in Phuket in 2023 when she and her friend Jack met a couple in their mid-30s in the city.

Ms Pacor, who was 16 at the time, said the pair snuck out of their hotel later that night after receiving messages from the couple telling them to meet at a Bangla Road bar.

The young teenager revealed in a TikTok video on Friday how it became a decision she would regret years later.

‘Red flags were everywhere. They were 35. We should have just known that this was not going to be a good idea,’ Ms Pacor said.

‘They shouted us about 10 drinks each… honestly, we didn’t have to pay for a single thing.’

The group moved on to Illuzion, which is marketed as the ‘number one nightclub’, before the couple bought them shisha and continued to push their boundaries.

Ms Pacor said the man tried to lure Jack into a bathroom.

Aussie TikToker Mia Pacor said she was nearly ‘set up’ in a Thai bar by an older couple (above, with family friend Jack)

Jack said he was hesitant at first, but that he needed to use the toilet.

The man then offered him what appeared to be drugs.

‘He pulled me away and said, “Come over here, bro.” He was offering me coke,’ he said.

Ms Pacor said they were both aware of the consequences of having drugs in Thailand.

‘Obviously, if you get caught having drugs in your system in Thailand, you are facing the death penalty,’ she said.

Thailand has strict laws regarding the production, supply, and use of prohibited substances and drugs.

Anyone who is caught in possession of Category 1 drugs, which includes amphetamines or heroin, risks life imprisonment or death.

Category 2 substances – which includes cocaine or morphine – carry slightly softer penalties such as fines or five years behind bars.

Ms Pacor said while Jack was away, the woman turned to her with a similar offer.

‘She was like, “Do you want to do this?” I was like, no. Then she said, “Come on. It’s fun. We know a good guy who gives it to us”.’

Ms Pacor said the woman insisted it was free and safe, but she declined again.

‘They clearly worked with the police,’ she said. ‘I knew that they were just off.’

She clarified the strangers were not taking the drugs themselves.

Ms Pacor and her friend left the club at 4am feeling uneasy and returned to their hotel.

They slept until midday and raised their family’s suspicion after missing breakfast.

‘All our family was like banging on our door for hours,’ Ms Pacor said.

‘The whole day they were just asking us so many questions. We were just denying it over and over again.’

She said the incident was eventually forgotten, until weeks later when she confessed to her father.

‘My dad was so disappointed,’ she said.

Ms Pacor said the incident wasn’t isolated for the pair in Thailand.

Social media users said the pair were lucky nothing worse happened.

‘Illuzion nightclub is full of scammers, this is known. Stay away from there,’ one wrote.

‘My brother, many years ago, got methanol poisoning. They set you up there. Be careful.’

‘Never ever accept any drugs off anyone in Thailand! It’s good to stay away from the partying and drinking scene as a whole,’ another said.

‘I got offered coke at Patong Beach right next to a cop stand. I just said no,’ a third added.
