Young Apostles have returned to winning ways again after a resounding 3-1 victory over Vision FC in an exciting Ghana Premier League Match-week 30 clash at the Wenchi Stadium on Wednesday, May 6.
The ‘Agya Na Owo Tumi’ lads produced one of their best performances in recent weeks, with in-form striker Richmond Opoku once again getting on the scoresheet to move level with Augustine Okrah as the league’s joint-top scorer on 13 goals.
Samuel Prempeh and Samuel Amankwah also found the net to seal the emphatic victory.
The important win has lifted the Yellow-Blues temporarily out of the relegation zone, with the club now occupying 14th position on the league table with 39 points as the battle for survival intensifies.
Reacting after the game, the club’s Communications Director, Alhaji Mahama Salia, admitted the relegation battle remains difficult but expressed confidence in the team’s ability to avoid the drop.
“The relegation dogfight currently ongoing in the Ghana Premier League is not a battle for the faint-hearted. But trust Wenchi Young Apostles FC to end the season unscathed. The victory over Vision FC is definitely a precursor for the game against Nations FC in Wenchi on Sunday,” he said.
He also praised everyone connected to the club for their support following the crucial victory.
“Anyway, thanks to all stakeholders of Young Apostles for the massive support that ensured we defeated Vision FC on a silver platter,” he added.
Young Apostles will next host Nations FC on May 10 in another crucial league encounter.
