Renowned private legal practitioner Martin Kpebu has taken a swipe at Sammy Darko, the Director of Strategy, Research and Communications at the Office of the Special Prosecutor, over the latter’s comments on the office’s investigation into allegations the former made against the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng.
Speaking in a recent interview with veteran broadcaster Kwaku Sintim-Misa (KSM), Kpebu said that Sammy Darko goes around giving supposed details of his meeting with the OSP over the allegation, but he would refrain from doing the same.
“First, I was hiding all these things because I felt that what I have to give the Special Prosecutor is extra information. So I don’t like this media attention, but they have been going out — we go and meet quietly, then Sammy Darko comes to put it on air, broadcast it. They attempt to call me. They don’t get me, then Sammy Darko (broadcasts it).
“So it means that they want us to (put everything in the public domain but) of course, I’ve still tried to keep certain details. I don’t want to embarrass them too much. I want to be magnanimous in victory. I’ve won already. I’ve won, so I don’t need to add more, I mean, insult to injury. So I’m still keeping a few details here and there, but he’s the one who has so far publicly put out what happened at the first and second meetings,” he added.
The lawyer laughed at Sammy Darko’s claim that he was “agitated” during questioning by the OSP over the allegation he made against the Special Prosecutor.
He suggested that even if he was agitated, he had cause to be because the OSP’s action showed that they did not know what they were doing.
Kpebu was agitated, failed to answer questions at OSP questioning – Sammy Darko
“He even said that I was agitated. He thought that’s a good report… Assuming I was agitated, is it wrong?… But KSM, it’s so basic. You’re a lawyer. You set up a committee. If you have lay people, people who are not lawyers, who are telling you that can OSP investigate itself? We come to the first meeting, we raise such issues, then you adjourn only to remove the officer we said is conflicted. Then you still bring us a subordinate.
“So if I’m agitated, is it not even justified that you have been too slow? Because we are all lawyers, I thought from the training you can see that if we are saying these are subordinates, they cannot be independent. Your mind should tell you that who is above Kissi, maybe the board, or, let’s form an independent committee. This simple thing they can’t get,” he said.
He added, “And yet Sammy Darko is happy to come and write that Kpebu is agitated. So the agitation tells you that this simple thing, simple law, simple law and logic, you couldn’t get, so why wouldn’t a teacher be agitated that this small thing you can’t get?”
Kpebu went on to repeat his claims that Kissi Agyebeng cannot continue to lead the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) because of his handling of the case against former Minister of Finance Ken Ofori-Atta.

What Sammy Darko said:
In an update on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, Sammy Darko claimed that Kpebu honoured another invitation by the OSP on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, after failing to appear on Friday, November 21, 2025, even though he had been informed through his contacts.
Darko said that upon appearing at the OSP on Tuesday, Kpebu declined to answer questions put to him regarding his allegations of corruption against the office.
He added that Kpebu became agitated, causing the questioning to be halted.
“… Another invitation was then issued for Tuesday, 25 November 2025, delivered directly to his office, as was done with the first invitation. When he appeared before the team yesterday, they began by asking questions relating to his specific allegations of corruption.
“He stated that he would not answer any questions, explaining that he was still preparing his materials and preferred to present them before the OSP Board. As the team proceeded with their questions, he became agitated, insisting he would not answer any questions, so they stopped,” he said on Facebook.
