Nigerian actor, media personality, and host of the Honest Brunch podcast, Nedu Wazobia, has sparked controversy with his recent statements about women who identify as independent while engaging in casual relationships and dating multiple partners.

During an episode of the podcast, Nedu shared his views on what he perceives as a contradiction in how some women define their independence.

Nedu expressed the opinion that some women take pride in labeling themselves as independent, even though their actions suggest otherwise.

He pointed out that while these women date multiple men and rely on them for support, they still hold on to the notion of being self-sufficient.

“Some women are out here dating multiple men, enjoying the benefits, and still want to claim they’re independent. This creates a blurred line between women who genuinely work hard to support their lifestyles and those who rely on men for financial or emotional assistance,” he said

While acknowledging that these women may enjoy the company and support of men, Nedu argued that their actions sometimes undermine their claims of independence.

“You can’t say you’re independent and still be relying on a man to support your lifestyle. True independent women are the ones working hard, paying their bills, and taking care of themselves,” he added.

Nedu further commended women who maintain their standards without compromising their values for a man’s attention or financial backing.

“I have mad respect for women who stay true to their standards, no matter the financial incentives,” he said.
