“You can sue your ex for breach of promise to marry” – Barrister tells Nigerians

A Nigerian lawyer, Stella, took to Facebook to reveal that individuals can take legal action against former partners for breach of promise to marry.

In her post, Stella emphasized that people have the right to seek compensation for emotional distress and losses incurred due to a broken promise of marriage.

Stella’s advice encourages individuals to explore legal recourse rather than solely relying on emotional appeals.

She wrote, “You can sue your ex for breach of promise to marry and stop being emotional. It’s your right”, citing the Nigerian constitution backing up her claim.

Here are the reactions that have massively trailed her post:

Evangelist Isreal Godstime: Will you ever enjoy that marriage if you force him/ her to marry you. For my people perish for lack of wisdom.

Solicitor Oboshi Sunday: I will also sue her for collecting my money without a genuine love causing depression to me

Franklin Ugwuoke: Bringing unnecessary laws while the main necessary laws are not kept. What’s the reason for having a relationship with a lady if not to know each other before marriage? Now, during the relationship, she found out that she can’t move with me, and quit. Why suing her?

    What do you think?
