Entertainment pundit, MC Yaa Yeboah, has called out former Guinness World Records Sing-a-thon contender, Afua Asantewaa, accusing her of dishonesty and ingratitude regarding her use of state funds for the event.
Yeboah’s comments come in response to Asantewaa’s recent statements, where she denied receiving government support, stating that she only received sore throat lozenges.
She later admitted to receiving some donations after being called out by some New Patriotic Party members.
In a submission on Peace FM, MC Yaa Yeboah challenged Asantewaa’s claims, pointing out that the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) spent state funds to make the venue conducive for her Sing-a-thon attempt.
“She is actually dishonest. I’m saying that because if you listen to the statement she put on her social media, she was saying people are bitter because they believe she used state funds.
“But the venue she did her Sing-a-thon, wasn’t it state funds that sponsored it? Where did the money the GTA spent on making the place conducive for her attempt come from? Wasn’t it state funds?
“So, from the onset, she’s decided to be ungrateful and dishonest. She has been lying to Ghanaians about everything,” Yeboah said.
The pundit also criticised Asantewaa for blaming her team members after her disqualification from the Guinness World Records attempt.
“After the Sing-a-thon, she had been blaming her team members for her disqualification. How do you think her team would feel?” Yeboah asked.
MC Yaa Yeboah also condemned Asantewaa’s behaviour so far, claiming that it would have been better if she had remained silent about the whole affair.
“If she had kept silent, it would have been better. When she came to drag Socrate Safo over the money matter, she knew that she had received money. So, why would she set up a man like Dr Bawumia?
“If it was a private event sponsored by her money, nobody would have cared. But as long as she used state money, she owed Ghanaians an explanation,” she said.
