Boxing consultant Yoofi Boham has thrown his support behind proposed constitutional amendments at the Ghana Boxing Authority, urging stakeholders to prioritize competence and integrity in the upcoming elections.

Speaking in an interview on Omashi TV, Boham stressed the need to modernize the GBA constitution to align with current global boxing standards. He noted that outdated regulations must be revised or removed to ensure the sport’s growth and relevance.

Boham also referenced two tragic incidents last year involving Nigerian boxer Gabriel Oluwsegun and Ghanaian fighter Ernest Akushey, urging authorities to learn from past mistakes. He commended the Medical Commission of the Interim Management Committee (IMC) for enforcing stricter safety protocols before sanctioning bouts.

Additionally, he advised promoters to adequately prepare before announcing events and called on matchmakers to act professionally to ensure regular boxing activity for fans.

The IMC, chaired by Samir Captan, has scheduled elections for June 2, with a handover set for June 4.

Meanwhile, former GBA president Abraham Kotei Neequaye previously handed over to Roger Barnor before state authorities assumed control. Reports indicate that Rabbon Dodoo and Ivan Bruce Cudjoe are among those vying for the top position.
