The Youth Employment Agency (YEA) is planning four new employment programmes for 2027 as it seeks to expand opportunities for young Ghanaians in domestic services, delivery, corporate services and agriculture.

Chief Executive Officer Malik Basintale outlined the proposed interventions when he addressed the Government Accountability Series at Jubilee House today, Wednesday, October 21.

The programmes are the Domestic Services Employment Programme, Youth in Delivery Services Programme, Youth in Corporate Services Programme, and Youth in Agriculture and Farming Support Services Programme.

Under the domestic services initiative, the Agency intends to recruit and train young people in housekeeping, home management, caregiving and other household support services.

Mr Basintale said the programme would seek to professionalise domestic work and promote employment arrangements that comply with existing labour regulations.

The delivery services programme is expected to create opportunities in logistics and distribution, particularly in areas where organised delivery services remain limited.

According to the YEA’s findings, 10 of Ghana’s 16 regions do not have established delivery services of the kind envisaged under the proposed intervention.

The corporate services programme will cater for both graduates and non-graduates seeking workplace experience and opportunities in professional and support-service roles.

The agriculture initiative, meanwhile, is expected to create opportunities in commercial crop production, farm operations, mechanisation, irrigation support and post-harvest handling.

“Our vision is to build a more responsive, inclusive and results-oriented Agency that does not merely respond to unemployment but anticipates emerging employment opportunities and deliberately positions Ghanaian youth to take advantage of them,” Mr Basintale said.

He said the planned interventions were intended to broaden employment pathways and support young people to develop practical skills, participate in enterprises and access income-generating opportunities.
