Popular Ghanaian actress and media personality Xandy Kamel has caused the arrest of the Chief Executive Officer of FAST TV, Mr Obed Mawuli MiFutsu, over copyright infringement.

According to an official press release issued on Thursday, July 31, 2025, the CEO of FAST TV was apprehended by officers of the Ghana Police Service at the Odorkor Police Station.

His arrest came after a formal complaint was lodged by Xandy Kamel, in collaboration with the Ghana Copyright Office, following the unauthorised use and repeated broadcast of her copyrighted work by FAST TV.

The case revolves around the blatant infringement of Ghana’s intellectual property laws. Despite several warnings and notices from the Ghana Copyright Office, the television station reportedly continued airing Kamel’s copyrighted content without permission.

“I have always believed in standing up for what is right, not just for myself, but for every Ghanaian creative whose work is exploited or stolen,” a portion of the statement read.

Investigations are ongoing, and further updates are expected from law enforcement and the Ghana Copyright Office in the coming days.
