Xabi Alonso is not set for a long spell on the sidelines after his Real Madrid departure as an European powerhouse has already established contact, according to reports.
The 44-year-old was relieved of his duties as Real Madrid manager after suffering a 3-2 defeat to Barcelona in the Supercopa Espana final two weeks ago.
Despite failing to establish himself at Real Madrid, the former Bayern Munich midfielder’s achievement at Bayer Leverkusen remains big on his CV and his former club Liverpool have reportedly began to knock on his door.
The Anfield club have been hugely dissatisfied with the output of Arne Slot this season and looking to replace him with Alonso who is also willing to join the club where he earned a cult status.
