Vice President and New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has been receiving enthusiastic receptions during his campaign tour of the Volta Region, which he started on Sunday, October 20, 2024.

From Hohoe to Kpando to Ho West, among other constituencies he has visited so far, Dr. Bawumia has been welcomed by appreciative traditional rulers, who have commended his impact as Vice President, as well as by large crowds at his community engagements.

On day three of his tour, Dr. Bawumia was welcomed by a stunning crowd at his community connect event in Ave Havi, in the Akatsi North Constituency.

The crowd, made up mostly of enthusiastic youth, had been waiting for Dr. Bawumia for hours, and when he eventually arrived, the place was set agog.

Stunned by the numbers, Dr. Bawumia could not hide his mixed feelings of surprise and excitement.

    “Wow! Wow!” Dr. Bawumia exclaimed.

“Is this Akatsi North? Is this Akatsi?” he continued, before thanking the crowd and the constituency for the massive show of love.

Addressing the crowd, he listed a number of issues under the erstwhile government of former President Mahama, including opposition to the introduction of Free SHS, inability to provide even chalk for schools, cancellation of allowances for trainee nurses and teachers, four years of dumsor, and neglect of community development.

Dr. Bawumia told the crowd that he has only been Vice President, helping the President implement several impactful initiatives, and has never been President before, unlike his main contender, former President Mahama, who he said had been President before and failed, leading to his rejection by Ghanaians twice.

Dr. Bawumia also outlined a number of policies he intends to implement as President, including his quest to train one million youth across the country to give them opportunities in the emerging digital space.

Below is a video of Dr. Bawumia reacting to the massive crowd:
