Aussie electronic duo Peking Duk have been slammed for their performance at the AFLW grand final on Saturday night with some saying they ‘eclipsed Meat Loaf‘ as the worst pre-game entertainment of all-time.
North Melbourne won their 27th straight game on their way to back-to-back AFLW premierships after beating Brisbane 56-16.
Before, in front of a packed house at Ikon Park in Melbourne, Peking Duk warmed up the crowd and put on a forgettable 17-minute set.
Some fans in the stadium even turned to their phones for entertainment as duo Keli Holiday (real name Adam Hyde) and Reuben Styles were performing.
Fans were critical of the duo, with one describing them as ‘rubbish’.
‘Surely the two AFLW teams and their supporters competing in a grand final deserve better than this rubbish. This may have eclipsed Meat Loaf as the worst pre-match ‘entertainment’,’ one person said.
‘Now they are bringing up their friends to perform. Seriously, it’s not a garage party in North Fitzroy. This is a train wreck.’
Hyde opened the set with his 2025 hit Dancin2 before joining Styles as Peking Duk behind the decks, welcoming Safia’s Ben Woolner, who sang Take Me Over and Say My Name.
The pair were then joined by Zimbabwe-born KYE, who sung Peking Duk’s unreleased track, Thrills.

Fans were left bored with the performance with some turning to their phones for entertainment
Aussies at the ground were left flat after watching the AFLW pre-game entertainment
To finish the set, the pair were joined by vocalist Lucy Lucy, who sang Fire and High.
As they were performing, many fans at the ground could be seen scrolling through their phones and the ones at home were just as disinterested.
‘Well, let’s hope the game is better than this Peking Duk performance … #AFLWGF,’ one person said.
‘Peking Duk really suck. Bring on the footy,’ another said. .
‘Trying not to hate on the AFLW grand final musical act but f*** this is s*** music. My poor ears,’ a third said.
There were a few, however, that didn’t mind the performance.
‘Peking Duk. Inject it into my veins. 10/10,’ one fan said.
‘Still filthy that this is at Ikon Park and not Marvel. Also, Peking Duk go OFF !!’ another wrote online.
Some did like the entertainmnet but most panned it
Peking Duk’s performance was compared to Meat Loaf’s 2011 disaster
Before the match the duo were talking about how they were looking forward to their performance at the Melbourne event
Styles spoke of his excitement earlier this week about performing at the match.
‘To get the call-up and have the chance to play at the NAB AFLW grand final is a huge honour for us and to be offered the chance to play at one of the fastest growing leagues in the world, and not just during the season but at the grand fina,l is an extremely exciting opportunity,’ Styles said.
‘We are going to put everything we can into this.’
They wouldn’t have expected to walk off stage to find Aussies were comparing them to Meat Loaf’s infamous performance at the 2011 AFL Grand Final.
The AFL reportedly paid $600,000 for Meat Loaf to perform for 12 minutes in front of 100,000 fans on AFL’s biggest day of the year in what is often referred to as the worst grand final performance ever.
Afterwards, Meat Loaf accused the AFL of putting no effort into the Grand Final entertainment before labelling them ‘The cheapest people I’ve ever seen in my life’.
Sports fan to this day talk about Meat Loaf struggling to sing his hits Bat out of Hell and I Would Do Anything For Love.
All poor pre-game acts are now compared to it.
