    Andy Kwame Appiah-Kubi, lawyer of the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, better known as Chairman Wontumi, has indicated that the fate of his client will be determined today, June 2, 2025.

    Chairman Wontumi was granted a bail of GH ¢50 million with two sureties on May 28, 2025, but his release was stalled despite meeting the bail conditions on May 30, because of a new legal application to be heard on June 2, 2025.

    In a report by citinewsroom.com on June 2, Appiah-Kubi, explained that a legal application filed elsewhere has placed a restraint on the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) from proceeding with the inspection of properties listed by the sureties.

    “We encountered some difficulties which will be sorted on Monday, then we will have a fresh slate to operate, and work towards the desired result,” he said.

    The legal team is working tirelessly to resolve the outstanding issues.

    Meanwhile, Chairman Wontumi, has withdrawn the motion seeking to challenge the conditions of his bail, on Monday June 2, 2025.

    The motion, filed at the High Court in Accra on May 30, 2025, was expected to be heard on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, however, his legal team formally withdrew the application on Monday, June 2, a day before the scheduled hearing.

    He, however, underscored the importance of following proper legal processes – warning against trial by public opinion.

    Bernard Antwi Boasiako is currently under investigation for alleged financial crimes, including fraud, money laundering, and causing financial loss to the state.
