Kaakyire Kwame Appiah has shared a nostalgic memory from his glory days, recalling how devoted female fans once laid their cloths on the road for him to drive over in admiration.

Speaking in an interview with Nana Romeo on Okay FM, the veteran musician said he could name several towns across Ghana where women performed this remarkable gesture.

“Women used to spread their cloths for me to drive over. I can list many towns in Ghana that did that for me. They did it because my song ‘24th’ brought their children from abroad back to Ghana,” he recounted.

Kaakyire explained that the song “24th” was inspired by the yearly tradition of Ghanaians traveling home for Christmas. Its powerful message resonated so deeply that many families reunited after decades apart.

“Some of these children had been away for 20 to 30 years, and my song was their way of bringing them home, so this was their way of appreciating me. At that time, there was no social media or all that stuff, otherwise I would have trended a lot,” he added with a laugh.

According to Kaakyire, the love he received for “24th” remains one of the most touching moments of his career, a reminder of how music once connected Ghanaians across distances long before the social media era.
