A woman has died after falling from a tower block in Canary Wharf near a controversial migrant hotel.
Paramedics were called to Sirocco Tower, Harbour Way at 6.37am today after the woman fell from the 32-floor skyscraper.
A trauma team from London’s Air Ambulance rushed to the scene, but the woman, in her 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A forensic tent and cordon were set up at the scene.
The incident happened less than half a mile from the four-star Britannia International Hotel, where migrants were moved earlier this month under the cover of darkness.
The incident is not connected to the Britannia Hotel, which has been embroiled in controversy over migrants being housed there.
Tower Hamlets Council confirmed the Government intended to use the hotel – which has around 500 rooms – for asylum seekers in a move that has angered anti-migrant protesters and guests whose bookings have been cancelled.
