Nigerian rapper Olamide has hailed Grammy-nominated artiste Wizkid as the greatest Afrobeats artiste after the late legend Fela Kuti.

Olamide made the statement while looking back on his multiple collaborations with Wizkid during a press conference in Canada on November 13, 2025 and noted that he is blessed to have worked with him.

“I am blessed to have worked with Wizkid on several occasions. You know, Wizkid is the greatest Afrobeats artist ever after Fela,” he said.

Olamide further clarified that his collaborations with Wizkid were not driven by strategic leverage but stemmed from their natural musical harmony.

His endorsement of Wizkid as the greatest Afrobeats artiste after Fela has since sparked discussions across social media.

This follows similar claims by other Nigerian musicians. Recently, Burna Boy declared himself the greatest African artiste after Fela, stating, “He (Fela Kuti) is the king. He is the only one greater than me. He is the only one.”

Also, Davido has frequently referred to himself as the “King of Afrobeats.”

Fans of Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy have long debated who deserves the title of the greatest Afrobeats artiste, making it one of the most-discussed topics in African music.
