President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has extended his warm congratulations to Ghana’s President-elect and Members of Parliament-elect, commending their victory in the recently concluded 2024 general elections.

In his Christmas message to the nation on Tuesday, 24 December, President Akufo-Addo lauded Ghanaians for their dedication to peace and democracy, describing the elections as a monumental achievement in the country’s democratic evolution.

“Fellow Ghanaians, this year, we have achieved another monumental milestone in our national development with a peaceful, free and fair election of a new president and new members of parliament. I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the president-elect and the MPs-elect. Wisdom, strength and God’s blessings as they prepare to lead our beloved nation,” he said.

The President hailed the successful elections as a testament to Ghana’s standing as a beacon of democracy in Africa.

However, he expressed profound disappointment at reports of post-election violence, condemning the acts that tarnished an otherwise exemplary democratic exercise.

“I must nevertheless condemn, in no uncertain terms, the unnecessary acts of violence that have tarnished an otherwise exemplary democratic exercise,” President Akufo-Addo declared.

He called on all Ghanaians to prioritise unity and national stability as the nation transitions to its newly elected leadership, urging citizens to safeguard the peace and harmony that underpin Ghana’s democratic progress.
