A Wisconsin dentist was shot and killed in his Milwaukee apartment building during a heated altercation over loud music.

Dr. Akintunde Bowden, 41 was gunned down by his next door neighbor Keionna McGowan, 27, on April 19.

McGowan was doing her hair inside her apartment while blasting music, prompting Bowden, who was watching basketball at the time, to go over and ask her to lower the volume.

The dentist allegedly banged on her door and McGowan claimed she grew fearful, as she saw ‘a large man who appeared to be intoxicated’ screaming outside her home, according to a criminal complaint obtained by WISN.

McGowan reportedly agreed to turn down her music, but the situation only escalated from there.

When she closed her door after speaking with her allegedly agitated neighbor, Bowden started kicking her door with enough force to shake her apartment, she claimed.

Thinking he may break in, a panicked McGowan says she decided to grab her gun.

She then opened up her door and shot Bowden once in the stomach, killing him on the spot.

As Bowden laid facedown on the floor of the doorway, McGowan rushed outside the building, where officers heard her bloodcurdling screams for help.

They ran up to her apartment and found the dentist bleeding out from his wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene and an autopsy revealed the bullet tore through several of his organs.

McGowan was arrested and charged with second-degree reckless homicide with use of a dangerous weapon.

She was seen uncontrollably sobbing as she sat in court on Thursday when she learned of her charge, which carries a maximum sentence of 25 years.

But since she used a dangerous weapon, there is a chance a judge could tack on another five years. She also could be fined up to $100,000, WISN reported.

Bowden’s heartbroken fiancée, Theresa Bell, said she was stunned by the incident, as she could have never imagined such a minor dispute costing a life.

Bell and Bowden had planned on getting married this year.

She said McGowan had received multiple noise complaints in the past, but they were always handling cordially. Bell also claimed only one of those past complaints came from Bowden.

Bowden was a well-known dentist within his community for about a decade, his brothers told CBS 58.

He focused on helping underserved Milwaukee residents get the dental care they needed, even if they could not afford it.

‘He really loved his patients, poured into them. Used to have stories,’ his brother, Ogbonna Bowden, told the outlet.

‘So he always reached for people that didn’t have as much or didn’t have what we consider a fair chance.’

His brothers Ogbonna and Adeniji, who are both dentists as well, are still grappling with the shocking loss of their admired loved one.

‘You know, I never thought that the last time I saw my brother would be the last time I saw my brother,’ Adeniji said to CBS 58.

Ogbonna added: ‘They don’t make people in society with so much compassion and care anymore.

‘Cost him his life, unfortunately, a minor, “please turn down your music.”‘
