Ghanaian sound engineer, William Osafo, popularly known as WillisBeatz, has called out singer Mr Drew for allegedly owing him money for a song they worked on together.

On August 5, 2025, WillisBeatz took to his X page to air his grievances, claiming that he has been trying to reach Mr Drew for the past four months without success.

According to him, all attempts to get the singer to settle the payment for production and splits have failed because Mr Drew has since ignored his calls.

In his post, WillisBeatz also accused Mr Drew of being dishonest about the production credits of his hit song “This Year.”

He alleged that the singer should give credit to music duo DopeNation, who, according to him, recorded the song.

This comes after DopeNation claimed in an interview with Headless YouTuber that they co-wrote the track and were involved in the recording process, but Mr Drew has not acknowledged their contribution.

“Chale adey call u.. u no dey pick my calls for the past 4 months. U owe me money for production n split and stop lying, DopeNation recorded ‘This Year’ song,” WillisBeatz wrote.

The singer responded to WillisBeatz’s post, denying any wrongdoing and insisting that WillisBeatz’s statement actually supports his own version of events.

According to Mr Drew, recording a song in someone’s studio does not mean that person wrote the song.

He accused DopeNation of making false claims and thanked WillisBeatz for what he described as “confirming the truth” in his favour.

From Mr Drew’s response, it suggests that he has now paid WillisBeatz, and therefore, there should be no further issues.

“Which lie? You just confirmed my truth lol. They said they wrote the song. If I come record song for your there mean say you write the song? So as I just sort you your money what again you get talk?” Mr Drew wrote.
