The Houston Texans have traded for Marvin Harrison Jr., head coach DeMeco Ryans confirmed on Sunday.
It emerged on Saturday that the Arizona Cardinals were trading away the wide receiver just over two years after drafting him with the No. 4 overall pick but his new destination initially remained a mystery.
It has now been confirmed that Harrison Jr. will be heading to Houston with Ryans announcing the trade to reporters following the Texans’ 26-3 win over the Tennessee Titans on Sunday.
The Cardinals are sending Harrison Jr. and a 2027 7th-round pick to the Houston Texans in exchange for a 2027 2nd-round pick and 2027 6th-round pick, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The Cardinals were said to have been holding out for a second-round pick in next year’s draft in exchange for the wideout. Once the Houstons changed their offer from a 2028 pick to one for next year, Arizona reportedly pulled the trigger.
The Texans had been considered the leading contenders after the news of the Cardinals trade broke on Saturday.

Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans confirmed the trade following Houston’s win on Sunday
Houston has started the season 1-4 with Sunday’s result against the Titans their lone win. The team also lost Jayden Higgins to an ACL injury in training camp.
The Texans are keen to hand quarterback C.J. Stroud more firepower and he will reunite with Harrison Jr. after being teammates in their college days at Ohio State.
Harrison was informed earlier in the week that he would not play against the Detroit Lions in the Cardinals’ Week 5 game because a deal had been finalized.
Harrison has had a limited role in the first four games under new head coach Mike LaFleur and has been mooted as a possible trade candidate for weeks.
He scored his first touchdown of the season in last week’s defeat by the New York Giants on a 12-yard catch but he has largely been in the shadow of fellow receiver Michael Wilson and tight end Trey McBride.
The son of Pro Football Hall of Fame receiver Marvin Harrison, the 24-year-old only has five catches for 85 yards and one touchdown so far this season.
It has been a rocky road for Harrison ever since he was drafted by the Cardinals in 2024.
His best season as a pro came in his rookie year when he had 62 receptions for 885 yards and eight touchdowns.
Last year those numbers fell to 41 catches for 608 yards and four touchdowns as the Cardinals finished 3-14 and head coach Jonathan Gannon was fired.
