Hajia Amina Adam is contesting the Ayawaso East parliamentary seat after her husband’s death

Hajia Amina Adam, the widow of the late Member of Parliament for Ayawaso East, Mahama Naser Toure, has reportedly asked to be vetted online ahead of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary primaries scheduled for February 7.

The request was made public by the Greater Accra Regional Secretary of the NDC, Theophilus Tetteh Chaie, on Tuesday, January 27.

According to a report by citinewsroom, Hajia Amina Adam’s request is based on religious considerations, as she is currently observing Iddah, a four-month period of widowhood seclusion prescribed under Islamic tradition.

Chaie, who spoke to the media during the filing of nominations by parliamentary aspirants, said the party’s leadership is yet to decide on whether to grant her request for a virtual vetting.

Hajia Amina Adam officially filed her nomination to contest the NDC parliamentary slot in the Ayawaso East constituency, entering a competitive race that features four other aspirants.
