The General Secretary of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Henry Asante Twum, has said that the Black Stars are more concerned about Panama than the other teams in their 2026 FIFA World Cup group.

According to him, the GFA and the Black Stars’ technical team are not familiar with the profile of Panama’s players because they rarely get the chance to watch them, which makes Panama more dangerous.

He noted that countries such as England and Croatia have most of their key players plying their trade in Europe, making it easier to monitor their performances and prepare accordingly.

Speaking in an interview with Global Sports Today, which was later shared on YouTube, Asante Twum disclosed that the GFA and the Black Stars’ management committee have deployed measures to monitor Panama closely before the World Cup kicks off.

“We have not studied Panama very well yet. Croatia’s players are in Europe, with the likes of Ivan Perisic and others in La Liga. We watch their clips, so we have a fair idea about them. England also have players we watch regularly, like goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, Reece James, Spence, Saka, Rice, Kane, and others. It is easier to start working on them.

“The difficulty is when you don’t know much about a team’s players. I think that from now until June we will put strategies in place to tackle that. We have already had meetings about these issues,” he said in Twi.

The team will kick off their Group L matches on June 17, 2026, against Panama in Toronto before traveling to face England in Boston, United States, on June 23.

Ghana will play their final group game in Philadelphia on June 27 to conclude their group stage matches.
