Ghanaian football administrator Wilfred Osei Kwaku Palmer has opined that Otto Addo is not the right man to lead the Black Stars’ resurgence.

The Tema Youth bankroller argued that the German-trained coach lacks the necessary experience to manage the Black Stars.

Palmer reiterated in an interview with Sporty FM that he has no confidence in the former Borussia Dortmund trainer.

“We need to do a lot. The team’s technical direction must change,” he said while expressing his thoughts on how to improve the team.

When asked whether he trusted Otto Addo at the helm, he responded: “No, not at all. Technically, he is not experienced.”

“We dismissed Kwasi Appiah from the Black Stars because he was deemed not good enough. So if Kwasi Appiah, who wasn’t good, was able to teach Otto Addo football lessons, then does it make sense to keep Otto?” he questioned.

Otto Addo’s future was in doubt after failing to secure Ghana’s qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

However, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) have reaffirmed confidence in the manager and tasked him with qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

In a previous interview, Black Stars management committee chairman Dr. Randy Abbey assured that the FA and the management team are committed to turning the team’s fortunes around.

“We believe the GFA have already made its decision,” Abbey told Original FM.

“The GFA are keeping Otto Addo. Right now, the focus is on the World Cup qualifiers starting in March and ensuring that we reverse the poor run of results that led to the team’s failure to qualify for AFCON. We need to change course and put the Black Stars back on the winning path.”
