Sirayakorn “Tiger March” Chamjaiharn (7-0, 4KOs) impressively captured the vacant WBA Asia South 140lb title when he scored a 7th round TKO over former WBA top-10 ranked Sukpraserd Ponpitak (33-29, 23KOs) on Saturday, October 24, at World Siam Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
This fight looked a close affair in the first 3 rounds when experienced Sukpraserd used his counterattack tactic to frustrate Sirayakorn’s aggression. From round 4, “Tiger March” sped up his assault and effectively weakened his opponent with tough bodyshots. In round 6, Sirayakorn dropped Sukpraserd twice with vicious right hooks and almost finished his foe who was saved by the bell. However, the contest lasted only one more round, as “Tiger March” pressed the attack with great intensity, dropped his foe for the 3rd time with a right hook, forcing referee Armando Garcia to stop the bout at 2:52 of round 7.
In other actions, current ABF heavyweight title holder Hoang Vincent Tran (7-1, 7KOs) dropped Apisit Sangmuang (24-18-2, 19KOs) with tough combinations, scoring a KO at 0:32 of round 3. Tran added the UBO Continental Asia heavyweight belt to his collection.
Also, an upset of the day, Myanmar fighter “Saw Thank Zin” (4-6-1, 3KOs) landed more accurate punches to narrowly defeat former unbeaten Daniel Hartwell (5-1, 5KOs) by 58-56, 58-56, 57-58 split decision.
