Ghanaian artiste Kweku Flick has opened up about how certain past events once made him believe that Kwesi Arthur did not like him.
In an interview with Kumasi-based Angel FM, Kweku Flick recounted how social media speculations that Kwesi Arthur refused to collaborate with him because he disliked him began to affect him mentally.
He said at one point that he even started believing such claims.
He noted that in the heat of the speculations in 2019, Kwesi Arthur reached out to reassure him that he liked his style, despite claims at the time that he (Kweku Flick), who was then rising in the industry, was copying Kwesi Arthur.
According to Kweku Flick, because he wanted to work with Kwesi Arthur, he used to share songs with him so he could choose which one he loved and get on.
However, despite sending multiple songs, he never selected any to make the collaboration a reality.
‘I now understand why collaborations with Kwesi Arthur couldn’t happen’ – Kweku Flick
Kweku Flick further recalled that in 2024, when his father passed away, Kwesi Arthur called to express his condolences.
He said the gesture reassured him that the rapper still admired him and was possibly dealing with personal challenges.
“When my dad passed away, he called to express his condolences, and that was when I realised he still liked me. It was just certain things bothering him that made him unresponsive. I started sending him songs again, but he went back to not responding. That was when I concluded he didn’t like me.
“I decided I wouldn’t send him any song again. I would just listen to his music as a fan, but I wouldn’t share anything with him anymore,” Flick narrated.
However, on January 22, 2026, when Kwesi Arthur’s issues with his former management surfaced, Kweku Flick shared a post on X saying he finally understands why their planned collaborations never materialised.
“I now understand why all our collaborations couldn’t happen. I have been worried about this for a long time. I was asking myself, ‘Why doesn’t he like me? Not knowing it wasn’t his fault,” he wrote.
