Ghanaian songstress, Gyakie, has detailed her reason for including Ghanaian dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale, on her song ‘Harmattan.’

In a discussion on MX24 and shared on Instagram on September 25, 2025, Gyakie explained that after recording her “Harmattan” track, Shatta Wale was the first dancehall artiste who came to mind.

She said that the “On God” hitmaker’s energy and lyrical flow were the perfect match for her song.

“Harmattan is the third track on the project – I believe third or fourth, and it was with Shata Wale. Harmattan is a dancehall record produced by Sosa, and if you listen to this track, nobody has to tell you who was supposed to ask which dancehall artiste you think is going to really kill it. Shatta Wale was the perfect person for the song,” she said.

Gyakie returns with ‘Sankofa,’ a stirring prelude to her deeply personal debut album After Midnight

Gyakie further disclosed that Shatta Wale was equally interested in being part of the song after hearing the instrumentals for the first time.

“And a big shout out to Julio, he actually made this as smooth as it was. He reached out to Shata Wale, and then he played a song for him. He listened to it and then he laughed.

“He even told me how much he was in love with the song. And you can tell with the kind of verse that he gave on the record that was real,” he added.
