    Ghanaian musician and socialite Showboy has expressed disappointment with the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Frank Amoakohene, for allowing the music group Asakaa Boys to perform at the 2025 AshantiFest celebration.

    During an interview on Neat FM on April 24, 2025, host Ola Michael asked Showboy why the music group was billed to perform instead of him.

    Showboy voiced his concern, stating that the group is known for promoting an opioid called “Red,” and therefore should not have been given the opportunity to perform on such a prominent stage.

    He emphasised that “Red” is wreaking havoc among the youth and insisted that the group should not have been featured at the event.

    “Maybe I’m not relevant right now, but I know I will become relevant very soon… So you want to tell me that the Asakaa Boys are important people? These are the same people known for promoting ‘Red.’

    They’re promoting tramadol. That makes you a wicked person,” he said.

    The music group’s hit song “Sa Me,” which features Reggie, O’Kenneth, Xlimkid, and City, gained popularity after O’Kenneth referenced “Red” in the lyrics.
