Former Arsenal defender Emmanuel Eboue has opened up about an unforgettable experience he had when he was booed by the club’s fans during a game.

According to him, he had a terrible game against Wigan Athletic, which led to the Gunners fans booing him in the stadium during the match.

The Ivorian defender noted that he was saddened by the situation and hurt emotionally. However, players like Emmanuel Adebayor, Fabregas, and manager Arsene Wenger reached out to motivate him.

“When it happened, nobody came to support me, it was only Adebayor. After the game, when I was leaving, he came to me and said, ‘Bro, don’t worry, be strong.’ To be honest, it was very hard. When I went to the dressing room, normally I would wait until the game finished and then take my car and go.

“But when I came home, I said I didn’t want to come back again. Then I saw Fabregas, Kolo Toure, and some others calling me, wanting to see me and be closer to me. I said, okay, I’m home. After the game, they didn’t come, but they called, even our banker. Wenger also called me,” he narrated during an interview with Daily AFC TV.

Eboue further disclosed that the Arsenal fans who booed him later came to offer an apology for their actions, which had affected him.

“The next day, I didn’t go to training because the fans came to apologise to me. The next day, I saw letters from the fans in my locker, apologising and saying they were sorry for what they did,” he added.
