Ghanaian actor Prince David Osei has expressed frustration over the alleged violent attacks currently staged by some NDC supporters in the country.

In the wake of the re-coalition of some parliamentary election results and the ongoing transition process, some supporters of the NDC have reportedly besieged collation centers across the country, demanding the swift declaration of the parliamentary results.

There have also been reports of protests and invasions at various state institutions, including the office of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) in Ayawaso East Municipality, as well as the Metro Mass Transport Limited yard in Kaneshie, Accra.

But in a post condemning the developments, Prince David Osei has claimed that, in addition to the protests and unrest, he and other NPP supporters have been subjected to death threats, cyberbullying, verbal attacks, and even physical assault.

“NPP!! Why have you gone silent?? Since when did we become COWARDS??? We lost an election and congratulated our worthy opponent as part of sportsmanship… We all want peace to prevail so we can co-exist in Ghana, but must you watch and keep quiet while they attack your own people? Beat, vilify, and destroy properties belonging to NPP? I and colleagues have received death threats, cyberbullying, verbal attacks, and physical attacks!!” he wrote.

He also alleged that the Inspector General of Police (IGP), George Akuffo Dampare, had not responded to his grievances after he reached out for help.

“I even sent a personal message to the IGP, but there was no response… Ghana, is this how you want us to live together??? My other colleagues from the NDC, when they lost power, walked freely and did their business, even though some constantly insulted the Asantehene, Ex-President Kufuor, President Akufo-Addo, Dr. Bawumia, and the rest. No statesman or clergy came out to condemn it,” he added.

Despite the attacks, Osei emphasised that he would not be intimidated by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and its supporters.

“I respect the power that is, but I am NOT AFRAID; no one can intimidate me or make me go silent… I am entreating all Ghanaians to condemn these baseless attacks on NPP members and forge unity among us all!! This is a democratic dispensation, and we should all respect it!!” he declared.

He continued, urging Ghanaians to condemn the violence, emphasising that political differences should not divide the nation.

He added, “The fact I didn’t agree with you during the campaign doesn’t mean we are enemies. I have NDC friends all over, even at the top, but they are all silent!! Let us condemn the attacks on NPP members, please. We are one people!! God bless Ghana… Is it right to start terrorising citizens because you won an election?? Does two wrongs make a right?”
