Ghanaian TV presenter Serwaa Amihere has described the passing of highlife music legend Daddy Lumba as deeply painful.

Speaking to GhanaWeb TV’s Isaac Dadzie during the one-week observation for the late musician at Independence Square on Saturday, August 30, 2025, Serwaa Amihere, who shared a close relationship with Lumba and his family, said she was always welcomed with open arms by them.

“He was an icon, a legend in every way. I will miss him, and I know that Ghanaians will miss him, his family will miss him, we all will miss him. I remember all the love he showed me and the advice he gave me. He gave me a lot of advice, and those are things I cherish deeply. He loved me, together with his wife and family, and it felt very genuine, very pure,” she said.

According to her, not only did Daddy Lumba show her love, but he also shared wisdom through advice, including the importance of extending love and care to others.

“He always told me to love people when I can and show them care when I can. So I encourage all of us, though it is painful, to celebrate all the good music he gave us over the years. I am still waiting to see another Daddy Lumba; I haven’t seen anyone yet,” she noted.

Commenting on Lumba’s musical talent and the significance of his loss to the Ghanaian music industry, Serwaa Amihere expressed hope that another talent like him would emerge in the country’s history, though she admitted it seems nearly impossible to replace him.

“I don’t know if we are ever going to get another Daddy Lumba,” she said.

Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, the legendary Ghanaian highlife musician, passed away on July 26, 2025, at The Bank Hospital in Accra after a brief illness. He was 60 years old.
