Black Stars coach Otto Addo has reportedly spoken to some former players about his frustrations with the team.
According to Collins Atta Poku of Sompa FM, Otto Addo disclosed to some former players at a gathering that he is struggling to understand the challenges facing the team.
According to Atta Poku, Otto Addo is mystified about the performance of the team as he believes that the hard work and sacrifices do not reflect during matches.
“Two weeks ago, all ex-players met at the house of one former player and Otto Addo told them he is suffering and that things are not working,” he said.
Otto Addo has come under massive pressure after the Black Stars’ draw and defeat to Sudan in a doubleheader in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The Black Stars drew at home to Sudan on October 10 before losing to coach Kwasi Appiah’s side on October 15.
The results of the two matches have placed Ghana on the cusp of non-participation in the 2025 AFCON, which will be the first time in 20 years that the country will not be playing in the continent’s biggest football festival.
After four games played in the qualifiers, Ghana are third with two points, while Angola lead the pack with ten points. Second-placed Sudan have seven points, with Niger at the bottom with one point, which they got from their game against Ghana.
The last round of qualifiers is scheduled for November, with Ghana playing Niger at home and facing Angola away. Sudan, who need just a point to qualify, will play Niger away and host Angola, who have already qualified.
