While the legal battle between the two widows of the late Daddy Lumba wages on, the family head of the Fosu family, Kofi Owusu spoke up after a court hearing on October 16, 2025.

The legal teams for Akosua Serwaa and Priscilla Ofori, commonly referred to as ‘Odo Broni’, met before the court for a hearing on an application for an injunction filed by Akosua Serwaa.

In videos going viral on social media, Kofi Owusu, clad in black traditional wear, was seen quickly heading for his car while being closely followed by his aides and some media personnel. Right before he got into his car, he faced the reporters who asked him about the court proceedings.

Owusu simply replied with “Asumdwe!” meaning “peace.”

The Abusuapanin has been under heavy criticism over his handling of the legal dispute since its inception.

Popular broadcaster Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah and Lawyer for Akosua Serwaa, William Kusi also accused Owusu of sparking tensions and misunderstandings within the family.

This comes amid a deepening rift within Daddy Lumba‘s family over the late musician’s funeral arrangements.

The dispute intensified after Daddy Lumba‘s wife, Akosua Serwaa, and her children filed a lawsuit seeking to halt the planned funeral.

In a press statement, Akosua Serwaa, who described herself as the legally wedded wife of the late musician, said she was sidelined in the decision-making process regarding his funeral.

She argued that she was neither consulted nor acknowledged in the arrangements and therefore asked the court to officially recognise her as the legitimate wife.

She also sought to prevent another woman, known as Odo Broni, from presenting herself as Daddy Lumba‘s wife.
