Haruna Iddrisu is Minister of Education

Tamale South Member of Parliament and Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has stated that his decision to become President of Ghana or not, rests solely with God.

In an interview with GH One TV and monitored by GhanaWeb on Monday, September 29, 2025, he stated, “I don’t know my tomorrow, but I’ll serve this country in any capacity as I’m already doing… It is not only in the office of the President that you can contribute to the public good or the distribution of public goods and services.”

“I should tell those persons who find my person fit to be President or want me to run for President …; that God’s time, as I’ve always said is the best,” he added.

A latest poll by Global Info Analysis shows Haruna Iddrisu leading the initial multi-candidate race with 30%, followed by National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress, (NDC) Johnson Asiedu Nketia with 24% and finance minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson with 18%.

The poll indicates that Haruna Iddrisu enjoys significant support among NDC loyalists and holds a strong edge in key swing regions, positioning him as the early favorite for the party’s flagbearership position.
