Suspended WABU General Secretary, Remi Aboderin
The West African Boxing Union (WABU) has announced the suspension of its General Secretary, Remi Aboderin, amid allegations of corruption.
The African Boxing Union (ABU) confirmed both the removal of the president and the suspension of all WABU-related activities.
“This press release serves to inform everyone that, as per the last communication, all WABU activities are suspended, and Mr. Remi Aboderin is no longer part of it,” the ABU stated in a letter dated April 10, 2025.
The decision follows corruption allegations levelled against the Nigeria Boxing Board of Control, with the ABU accusing Aboderin and some WABU officials of financial misappropriation and the exploitation of boxers and promoters.
The African Boxing Union is expected to appoint an interim General Secretary in the coming days to oversee the union’s affairs and restore credibility to its operations.
