    Member of Parliament and Majority Leader, Mahama Ayariga, praised the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for its groundbreaking broadcast partnership with Adesa Production Limited (APL), a subsidiary of Media General, during a GFA event on July 31, 2025.

    Describing the initiative as one of the most innovative and promising in decades, Ayariga emphasised its potential to transform the business of football in Ghana and bridge the gap between passion and resources.

    The partnership, unveiled at Movenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra, and attended by key stakeholders in Ghanaian football, marks a significant milestone for the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League (GPL) season, set to kick off on September 12.

    “We are not just uplifting clubs; we are reimagining the entire business of football in Ghana,” Ayariga declared at the event.

    He stated that this partnership ensures that the gap between passion and resources is bridged, empowering clubs and enhancing the quality of our football ecosystem.

    “As a nation, football has always united us, and this initiative strengthens that bond while positioning our league for global competitiveness,” he said.

    Ayariga commended GFA President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku for his visionary leadership in securing the partnership.

    Okraku announced that each of the 18 GPL clubs will receive GHc1 million before the season starts, a move aimed at bolstering club operations and competitiveness.

    “This is not a grant but a firm commitment by the GFA, Adesa Productions, and the government,” Okraku emphasised, underscoring the partnership’s role in formalising football financing.

    The MP assured the GFA and the Ministry of Sports and Recreation of Parliament’s full support.

    “We in Parliament stand firmly behind this transformative initiative. We will provide the legislative and financial backing needed to ensure its success,” Ayariga said.

    The partnership with APL replaces the previous broadcast agreement with StarTimes, which expired after the 2023/24 season, and follows the GFA’s decision to secure a new television deal with Digital Satellite Television (DStv) for broader league coverage.

    The initiative is part of the GFA’s strategy to enhance the financial base and visibility of Ghanaian football.

    With Parliament of Ghana backing and the GFA’s forward-thinking approach, this collaboration with Adesa Production Limited signals a new era of innovation and opportunity for Ghanaian football.
