The Prince and Princess of Wales opted to spend their morning watching the netball in Glasgow but the real royal rumble was in the boxing ring.

England claimed three gold medals within two hours in the first session of the day, with Sacha Hickey, Patris Mughalzai and Isaac Okoh all topping the podium.

After defeating Welshman Connor Williams in the heavyweight final, Okoh sent a cheeky invitation to William: ‘If he wants a pad session, tell him to call me. But the fee is quite high!

‘I don’t know what they’re into. They might come down and enjoy the fights. The atmosphere has been great this week so hopefully one day they might see me box.’

It was a display of dominance from these amateur fighters, who train together in Sheffield.

They have now turned their sights towards Olympic gold at LA 2028, following the likes of Nicola Adams, Anthony Joshua and Amir Khan.

‘You’re going to see us back at the top of the podium again,’ added Okoh. ‘I feel like I’m one of the best in the world at 90kgs at the minute. I’m still young.

‘Since September last year I’ve been on an amazing run of form, picking up loads of medals. Come LA, I’ll be looking to win another gold medal.

‘It’s all building blocks towards the big pay-per-view nights that we all dream of. This is how we get there, winning medals like this at the Commonwealth Games and the Olympics. Hopefully one day you’ll see us on posters, buying our pay per views.’
