President John Dramani Mahama has cautioned national security services against the misuse of state resources, stressing that his administration will not tolerate waste, indiscipline, or the abuse of assets meant to protect the nation.

According to a myjoyonline.com report on January 9, 2026, during the presentation of more than 100 pickup vehicles to the Ghana Police Service at the Police Headquarters in Accra, Mahama said every cedi and asset allocated to the security sector must produce clear, measurable benefits for the Ghanaian people.

“We won’t tolerate misuse, waste, or indiscipline,” Mahama stated, adding that resources provided for national security must deliver real value and enhance public safety.

While reaffirming his government’s commitment to strengthening the operational capacity of the security services, the president emphasised that improved logistics must go hand in hand with professionalism and accountability.

“As we strengthen capacity, we are equally committed to professionalism and accountability,” he said.

Mahama noted that national security goes beyond the provision of equipment and logistics, underscoring the importance of ethical conduct, discipline, and the responsible use of public resources within the security services.

He assured Ghanaians that his government remains determined to safeguard public resources and ensure that investments in national security translate into improved public safety and sustained national stability.
