Black Sherif's team vows to maintain high standards Black Sherif’s team vows to maintain high standards

Black Sherif’s management has stated that they will no longer lower their professional standards for Ghanaian event organisers after a bad experience at the Unifest concert in Takoradi on June 21, 2025.

Kingsley, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) for Black Sherif’s team, spoke to GhanaWeb’s Joseph Jenry Mensah about the incident.

According to him, a misunderstanding between the artiste’s camp and the event organisers caused Black Sherif to appear late on stage.

The delay led to some angry fans throwing sachet and bottled water at the “Where Dem Boys” hitmaker while he was performing.

Addressing the issue, Kingsley said that the team has often tried to be lenient with Ghanaian promoters out of goodwill, but those efforts are usually taken for granted.

He stressed that from now on, Black Sherif’s team will apply the same strict standards they use when dealing with international events to all shows, including those in Ghana.

“We will not be merciful to anyone again in the name of you being a Ghanaian. We have been lenient enough knowing that these are our people, but the more you bring the bar of professionalism down a little bit, that’s when they start misbehaving,” Kingsley said.

He also mentioned that the team has been through similar situations before, and they are no longer willing to compromise.

He believes that some event promoters in Ghana do not respect proper procedures and, when things go wrong, they often blame the artistes instead of taking responsibility.

“So now we will uphold the standard of professionalism we operate with across the world, which would be the same standard we will uphold here in Ghana because our promoters here don’t learn. And this is not the first time this has happened to us or any other Ghanaian artiste,” he added.

Kingsley pointed out a worrying trend where some Ghanaian promoters operate poorly and shift the blame to artistes when issues arise, knowing that the public often sides with the organisers and criticises the musicians.

“It is, has become a behavioural pattern that people just operate anyhow and now after everything they would just swing the blame on the part of the artiste and the court of public opinion will now castigate their sanctions on the part of the artiste,” he said.
