Ghanaian gospel musician Uncle Ato has recalled some fond moments of his late friend and colleague, KODA.

In an interview on 3FM on October 15, 2024, Uncle Ato praised the late KODA for his selflessness, highlighting how he put his own career on hold to help others.

“We were at KNUST together, and he was singing and playing instrumentals. After we graduated, he recorded Nii Okine, myself, and Eugene Zuta, he helped many of us before releasing his own album, and God lifted him up,” he stated.

Uncle Ato emphasised that KODA left behind a significant legacy through his service, despite passing away too soon.

“We wished he lived longer; he would have done more,” he added.

Drawing parallels with the Apostle Paul, Uncle Ato stated that KODA would have continued to be a blessing to his colleagues had he lived longer.

“You know Paul said, ‘If I go, it’s good for me but if I stay, it will benefit you who are living.’ I think that’s KODA’s life; if he had stayed, it would have benefited us,” he said.

Kweku Owusu Dua Anto, popularly known as KODA, passed away on April 12, 2024, after an illness, leaving behind three children.

He was laid to rest on September 20 in a solemn all-white burial service attended by many gospel musicians and sympathisers across the country.
