Francis Frimpong 'Pooley' was a fan of Asante Kotoko play videoFrancis Frimpong ‘Pooley’ was a fan of Asante Kotoko

Former Asante Kotoko management member Solomon Ofosu-Ware, popularly known as Chairman Solo, has criticized sports journalist E.K. Wallace for allegedly spreading misinformation about the death of Francis Frimpong, also known as Pooley.

He also revealed that the club’s supporters plan to take action against both Asempa FM and Wallace.

Reports indicate that Pooley was fatally stabbed during a melee at Asante Kotoko’s match against Nsoatreman FC on February 2, 2025.

However, during a show on Asempa FM on Thursday, February 27, 2025, E.K. Wallace claimed that Pooley’s fatal stabbing occurred in a “ghetto” and not at the Nana Konomansah Stadium in Nsoatre.

Asante Kotoko swiftly condemned these claims, labelling them as blatant lies, malicious distortions, and reckless fabrications.

In response, Chairman Solo disclosed that the club’s supporters are determined to pursue legal action against Wallace for allegedly spreading false information.

Speaking to Global Sports Today on YouTube, Chairman Solo expressed his shock at Wallace’s remarks, dismissing them as entirely false.

“I didn’t expect that from someone of Wallace’s calibre. Everything he said was untrue, and I believe someone may have hired him to spread those lies. As a head of sports, making such false claims is disappointing,” he stated.

He further emphasized that Kotoko supporters would take on both Asempa FM and Wallace in their pursuit of justice.

“We’ll take him and his radio station on at the right time. We will respond to Wallace’s claims, and no Kotoko supporter will allow anyone to deceive the public. We’re not afraid of anyone, and we’ll speak the truth. No one is above the law in this country, and we’ll ensure that justice is served,” he added.
