Akosua Serwaa said they received 3 different accounts about Lumba's death Akosua Serwaa said they received 3 different accounts about Lumba’s death

Akosua Serwaa, the wife of the late Highlife legend Daddy Lumba and his sister, Ernestina Fosuh, have revealed that they received three different accounts about the circumstances surrounding the musician’s death.

In a document dated October 13, 2025, and signed by the Fosuh family secretary on behalf of the two women, they detailed the three separate reports, from an eyewitness, the police and coroner, and from Odo Broni, the woman believed to have been living with the late musician at the time of his death.

According to Akosua Serwaa and Ernestina Fosuh, these conflicting accounts have created doubts about what really happened in the final hours of the musician.

Akosua Serwaa and Ernestina Fosuh petition authorities to probe Lumba’s death

    Eyewitness account

According to the statement, the first version came from an eyewitness who claimed to have been contacted by Daddy Lumba on the night of the incident.

The eyewitness said the singer called to inform him that he was unwell and asked him to come over to his residence.

The statement noted that upon arrival, however, the witness was reportedly stopped by a woman living with the musician from seeing him.

After waiting for nearly two hours without success, the friend decided to leave.

On his way home, he received a call informing him that the musician had passed away at home.

    Police and coroner’s report

The statement also noted that, the second version, according to a report from the Ghana Police Service to the Coroner at the District Magistrate Court in Accra, presented a different chain of events.

The report stated that Daddy Lumba, who was known to be diabetic, had complained of pain in his legs and waist on July 24, 2025.

He was subsequently taken to the Sunshine Diagnostic Centre for an MRI scan.

Because he became agitated and anxious during the procedure, he was placed under anaesthesia.

The report added that after the scan, he developed severe pain and was then transferred to the Bank Hospital, where he died two days later on July 26, 2025.

    Account from Priscilla Ofori

The third version, according to the family, came from Priscilla Ofori popularly known as Odo, the woman believed to be staying with the late musician.

They stated that her statements have been inconsistent and contradictory.

“Ms. Priscilla O. initially informed the family during the first family meeting that Mr. Fosuh had been taken to the Bank Hospital, where he received an injection that caused him severe pain before he passed away.

”However, the following day, when Kwasi, a cousin of the late Mr. Fosuh, approached her with the same question, she gave a different account stating that Mr. Fosuh had actually died at home, and that she had cleaned and dressed the body before calling a friend, identified as Serwaa A., to assist her in taking him to the hospital. Since then, Ms. Priscilla O. has declined to provide any further information, and her statements remain inconsistent and contradictory,” the statement noted.
