The Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive Officer of Quest International University, QIU, a Malaysia-based higher education institution and a subsidiary of QI Group, Prof. Zita Mohd Fahmi, has warned, without mincing words that: “QIU does not have any agent partnership with any organisation in Africa and we do not offer scholarship from any African country. We do not have satellite or offsite campus in Africa. We have only one campus and it is in Ipoh, in Malaysia. Do not fall for any scholarship or satellite campus scam.”

Her warning was necessitated by reports reaching the University administration that some scammers in some countries in West Africa were using the name and identity of the university to deceive unsuspecting members of the public, fleecing them of monies in exchange for fake academic programmes or scholarships.

Prof. Zita Mohd Fahmi, who has extensive experience, having served in the public education sector for over 30 years and focusing on academic accreditation and qualifications, was addressing seasoned journalists from many West African countries who had travelled to the university for a short visit as part of the broader QNET VCON media junket to Malaysia. QIU is a subsidiary of the QI Group, just like QNET.

As part of its reputation management and anti-scam campaign activities, QNET selects journalists from leading media organisations across West Africa to visit its head office in Malaysia and to attend the company’s biggest conference of stakeholders christened: the VCON.

Journalists, while on the QNET VCON junket, made a stop at the Quest International University, where Prof. Fahmi used the opportunity to provide clarification and some education about the university.

Quest International University is a private higher education institution located in Ipoh, Malaysia, founded to provide quality education with a focus on practical skills and industry relevance. It offers a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate programs focusing on fields such as business, hospitality, tourism, and health sciences.

The university is accredited by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) and affiliated with various industry partners to ensure program quality and standardizations.
