Member of Parliament for Dome Kwabenya, Faustina Akurugu, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of renowned Ghanaian inventor and industrialist, Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, describing him as a father figure and a national treasure.

Speaking to GhanaWeb during a visit to the late Apostle’s residence on September 15, 2025, the MP recalled meeting him for the first time in December 2023, shortly after losing her own father.

She said the encounter left a lasting impact on her, and she considered him a father.

“We have indeed lost a legendary personality. He was a father to me… Apostle Safo did a lot for people, providing food, shelter, education. He played a significant role in the agricultural sector through innovative equipment that boosted farming,” she noted.

According to her, the Dome Kwabenya constituency, Ghana, and Africa at large will miss the late inventor’s contribution to development.

She urged government and stakeholders to preserve and continue his legacy, especially the school he founded, which she said must be supported to train and inspire more young people.

“I pray that all those who learnt at his feet continue the heritage he left. Whatever heritage he has built over the years. We have to take it up as a nation.

“Especially the school he founded. We should be able to see how best the government will cooperate and then even get more people to be able to impart this knowledge to the young people in the country,” he said.
