Robert Klah is the Head of Communications and Public Events at Charterhouse

The Head of Communications and Public Events at Charterhouse, Robert Klah, has explained why the red carpet at the 2025 Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMAs) was extended beyond the scheduled time.

In an interview on Hitz FM, Robert Klah revealed that although everything was technically ready to begin the main awards show, the organisers had to delay the start because some key people had not arrived on time.

“Technically, we were all ready, everything. We were waiting to begin. At the time when we wanted to start the main show, we were still waiting. Because at the end of the day, you don’t want to announce the winner of an award and the presenter is not there, or even worse, the winner is not there. Or you’re ready to begin and your opening act is not there,” he said.

He explained that to ensure a smooth flow of the event, organisers needed to confirm that all performing acts and award presenters were present and prepared before starting the main show.

“You want to make sure they are all there. You want to have like two or three acts ready, so when you finish with one, the next is ready to go. All the necessary preparations must be in place. So, if these people are not there, it becomes difficult to begin,” Robert stated.

According to the Head of Communications and Public Events at Charterhouse, because of these delays, the red-carpet segment had to be extended to give more time for attendees to arrive and get ready.

Robert Klah clarified that the main event was originally scheduled to begin at 9:15 PM, but due to delays caused by late arrivals from some guests and participants, they had no choice but to push the start time to 10PM.

“At the end of the day, it drags. Initially, we wanted to start, let’s say, between 9:15 and 9:30, but we ended up starting at 10. We had to prolong the red carpet to accommodate a number of people,” he added.
